Borstal Girls: Dormitory InspectionThe latest in our short series of films imagining the kind of young offender's institutions that did once exist in the UK, with horribly wicked staff taking any and every opportunity to inflict corporal punishment on the unfortunate but equally wicked female inmates. On their first night of incarceration, Alex and Amy are sharing a dormitory with repeat offender Jadie. When they (inevitably) fail the nightly dormitory inspection due to an unmade bed and discovered contraband, the new girls experience dormitory discipline: one failure means all are punished. Having first been ordered to strip, the girls must bend over the end of their beds to have their bottoms strapped over their white cotton knickers. Kennedy is clearly feeling particularly vindictive tonight, as the next stage of their punishment takes the form of a humiliating legs-up strapping, followed by a caning for Jadie, with the promise of a further beating the following day. Ah the old days, how we miss them!Left BehindAmy finds herself the only girl left behind for the holidays at her boarding school. Her parents have gone on holiday to the Bahamas, without her! Unfortunately, Geography Master Mr Kennedy has drawn the short straw and also has to miss his holidays to supervise Amy. Amy is not the most well-behaved schoolgirl, by a very long way and Kennedy decides to see if he can rectify this, and vent some of his anger at missing his holiday at the same time. His methods will involve intensive geography study and daily (at least!) corporal punishment for Amy. Day one begins in the empty dormitory with a disconsolate Amy having her bottom smacked, and paddled.The Slipper - Part 3The third in a series of four films exploring the one element of corporal punishment that survived the ending of the practice in UK state schools in the early 1980s: The Slipper! It was always common knowledge, although rarely talked about, that PE Mistresses (and Masters!), kept a slipper for on-the-spot motivation or punishment during PE classes, or sometimes afterwards in the changing room. The slipper itself was a plimsoll or gym shoe, almost always a large, gents example for maximum effectiveness and coverage.
